Joice Truban Curry
President & CEO
Joice creates and leads programs for clients spanning the hospitality, tourism, retail, business-to-business, restaurant, consumer product, non-profit, wellness, health care and entertainment industries. Her creativity, energy and public relations savvy helped grow c3 Communications, Inc. from a one-person shop, into one of San Diego’s fastest growing and most successful boutique agencies. Before founding c3, Joice worked at Berkman Communications and also served as media relations director and national spokesperson for the Children’s Hospital and Health Center San Diego.
Joice is also active in the industry and community. She is a two-time past president of the San Diego chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, immediate past chair of the national PRSA Honors and Awards Committee, and a director on the Starlight Theatre San Diego Civic Light Opera’s executive board. Joice has been recognized by clients and industry peers alike, winning awards including 2009-2010 Public Relations Professional of the Year by the San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, three national Silver Anvil awards, and being named one of San Diego Metropolitan magazine’s top 40 outstanding community leaders. When not at c3, Joice likes to travel with Sean, her husband of 17 years, teaches fitness classes, and enjoys spending time relaxing with Sean in their Carmel Valley home.
Sean Curry
Partner & COO
Sean handles the financial and management of c3 Communications, Inc. He also works with many of the agency’s clients, managing the 15 tours, shows and engagements c3 promotes each year. A business veteran, Sean was COO for Certified Software Solutions, where he also managed the company’s operations, marketing and public relations efforts. Under his leadership, Certified Software Solutions grew from a $1 million company into a multi-million dollar operation with 20 employees. He has also taught at National University, where he earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in software engineering, and served as faculty at UCSD Extension. When not at c3, Sean runs two Massage Envy franchises (Carmel Valley and Solana Beach), travels with his wife Joice, and is an avid Washington Redskins fan.
Sara Wacker, APR
Senior Vice President of Account Services
Sara directs all aspects of client programs, including media relations, community relations, corporation positioning, and special events management. She recently returned to c3 Communications, where she started her career and worked for several years, after a stint at Allison & Partners San Diego where she led the offices social impact, community relations, and cause marketing programs. A consummate public relations professional, Sara was the 2010 president of the San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, after serving as a board director for seven years. She also serves as an Assembly Delegate for the chapter, representing San Diego area PR professionals, and acts as the Ethics Chair for the organization. Additionally, she is a volunteer public information officer for the American Red Cross of San Diego and Imperial Counties. When not at c3, Sara enjoys snowboarding and scuba diving. She lives in San Marcos with her husband Ryan and their two Weimaraners, Otis and Winston. She is also expecting her first child this spring.
